Whether you're a longtime reunion regular or just discovering your connection to the Weddle family, this is your go-to spot for everything you need to know. From our family's rich history with Rev. John R. and Caroline Sullivan Weddle to practical stuff like reserving a camping spot or staying in the loop with family news, we've got you covered. Think of this as your friendly family guidebook – because every good reunion starts with knowing what to expect!

  • The very first Weddle Family Reunion was held in 1929, a few miles north of Afton, Iowa in a school yard. At noon, family members gathered around the table spread under the trees to partake of fried chicken and other good things to eat. The afternoon was spent visiting and playing ball. After deciding to make the reunion an annual affair, all departed to their various homes with the promise to meet the next year. In 1932, by a vote of all those attending the reunion that year, the date for the reunion was set for the second Sunday of August.

  • The goal of our reunion (and the stated motive our Non-Profit Organization By-Laws) is to promote fellowship and family ties and encourage contact between and among members of the John R. Weddle Family.

  • The newsletter is available on our Facebook page and can also be downloaded and printed from the Newsletters page of this website.

  • Please Contact Us with your name, relation to the family, and your email or mailing address. Both are requested to allow us to send you the family newsletter. To save time and money, we will send it via email first.

  • Use the Contact Us form to send us your new address, email, or other updates.

  • You can share family updates in any of the following ways:

    • Contact your board member directly

    • Use the Contact Us form

    • Click the Family Updates button on the homepage to fill out a Google Form that goes directly to the family historian.

    When submitting an update, please include as much detail as possible to help our family historian maintain accurate records:

    • Full names (before and after marriage, if applicable)

    • Dates (birth, passing, wedding, or divorce)

    • Location

    • Your name and relation to the individual(s)

  • Please visit the Reservation/Store page to reserve your hookup for the upcoming reunion. This helps us plan for the next year and perform maintenance and upgrades, as necessary.

  • You can donate directly by visiting our Donation Page. Every contribution helps support our reunions, family records, and ongoing efforts to stay connected.

  • Simply reply to any newsletter email with a request to be removed from the mailing list. We’ll take care of it promptly.

  • Unfortunately, no. We are a Non-profit, not a charity.

  • Absolutely! We have several families that come for a weekend or two during the year. Rather than a cash donation or paying for the electric and water they use, they perform essential services to keep the campground in great shape, such as mowing and picking up sticks. For larger groups that may want to host a smaller reunion, wedding reception, etc…, please contact the Board to discuss dates, and the cost for your event.
